Dr. Ranjit Ray, Chairman

    Dr. Ranjit Ray earned his PhD in Biochemistry from National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases, India. He has 15+ years of experience viral pathogenesis and in drug discovery and development in different educational institution and biotech companies in the USA. He has worked on Hepatitis C virus that cause liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Chronic liver diseases cause significant morbidity and mortality in India.

    Ranjit is inspired by the work done at Liver Foundation, West Bengal, to provide financial and medical help to people including families of young children suffering from liver diseases and saving their lives. He serves as Chairman of the Board of the Friends of liver foundation West Bengal that aims to provide financial help for the world’s least served to access healthcare.

    Abhijit Chowdhury, Secretary

    Abhijit Chowdhury (born 1959) is a physician scientist , public health activist and an organizer , currently serving as the Director , Liver Disease clinical services and research at Indian Institute of Liver and Digestive Sciences (IILDS), Sonarpur. An ardent advocate and worker for access of technical brilliance in health care for as many as possible and also equity as a necessary focus of health care in a developing country.

    He had been involved in Liver Foundation, West Bengal organization since its’ very inception in 2006, takes active role in its’ multifaceted activities in health and human development across India and development of IILDS through philanthropic contributions of many . As an academic, he has published more than hundred articles in Hepatology / public health in international journals and presently serves at the John C Martin Centre for Liver research and Innovations (www.jcmlri.edu) as an Associate Director.

    Kishore Nandyala, President & Founder

    Kishore Nandyala is the President & Founder of Friends of LFWB. Kishore Nandyala was inspired by the work being done by Liver Foundation in West Bengal and was convinced the pivotal role this foundation can have in furthering the work started by Liver Foundation.  As a professional who worked in the pharmaceutical industry for many years, he was moved by seeing people suffering for lack of simple and affordable healthcare.

    Today, Kishore is an “Executive Director” at Exelixis, an oncology-focused biotechnology company whose mission is to help cancer patients recover stronger and live longer. He has a unique perspective of the healthcare needs of developing countries and a passion to making a difference in his local community and the broader world at large.

    He earned a Master’s degree in Computer Science from University of Missouri and is results oriented as evident from his career over the past two decades.

    Arnab Basu, Treasurer

He serves as treasurer of the Friends of liver foundation West Bengal that aims to provide financial help for the world’s least served to access healthcare.

    Sunil Avadhanam, Director

    Sunil is passionate about children’s education and healthy living. For past 18 years, he has been actively volunteering in educating and mentoring school-age children in Engineering, Robotics, Indian regional language and culture.

    Sunil holds Masters in Computer Science and Engineering from UTA, US. He has 20+ years of professional experience in Information Technology, leading teams across the globe, supporting multiple applications across various technologies. He is currently serving as Associate Director at Verizon.
